Wowcher smooths the way for customer’s refund and rethink – The Crusader | The Crusader | Finance

A tangle with the online operator’s technology in a bid to redeem credits was the surprise hiccup however customer Charles Jordan encountered late last year.

He had bought tickets costing £110 for a safari park trip, but then had second thoughts. “When I looked again into the deal it wasn’t as good value as I thought so I cancelled,” he explained to Crusader.

Being a regular customer, he decided to agree to accept credits placed on his account rather than a cash refund.

“The credits had a three-month time limit, and when I realised recently they were due to expire I tried to spend them but the system wouldn’t let me,” he adds.

“Getting hold of someone to help was difficult. There are What’s App numbers but whenever I tried there seemed to be a very long queue so am still waiting for a response.”

Combining forces Crusader and Charles tried again to get help from Wowcher and this time had better luck.

He was guided through the process “by a very helpful man” he says with no quibble about the credit.

The company also confirmed to us that Wowcher “has personally reached out to the customer and has in person walked him through how to apply the credit to his purchases. We can see that he has subsequently made two purchases.”

Wise Wowcher shopping

So is Charles a wiser Wowcher shopper in the light of this experience? “Absolutely,” he declares.

“First of all I will make it easier for myself by checking all details of a deal before buying, not just snap it up then consider.

“I also used different debit cards to buy the tickets and then to spend the credit – the discrepancy may have caused a problem. Keeping things consistent is always better where digital purchases are concerned.

“In future I will stick to paying by PayPal and if an issue arises again always go for cash not a credit.”
